I agree that it's distasteful, but the race card is a powerful trump in the courts, and Muslims aren't the first to employ it. It is a product of the adversarial court system that any defense, no matter how implausible or scurrilous, can be employed in the attempt to clear one's name. The real injustice would lie in its success.
